(주)엘렉시, 위지윅스튜디오와 AI 영상제작 솔루션 개발 MOU 체결
AI(인공지능) 핵심기술을 보유한 주식회사 엘렉시(이하 엘렉시, 대표 서장원 http://www.ellexi.com)는 시각효과(Visual EffectsㆍVFX) 기술을 기반으로 코스닥 IPO 후, 콘텐츠 시장에서 큰 주목을 받고있는 위지윅스튜디오(대표 박관우, 박인규)와 AI 영상제작 솔루션 개발사업 추진을 위해 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다고 1월 10일 밝혔다.
이에 따라 양사는 기존 위지윅스튜디오가 회사 설립 시부터 KAIST 물리학 박사 출신 우창헌 연구소장과 KAIST 컴퓨터그래픽스/가상현실 전공 박사 출신인 김형석 연구위원을 필두로 연구 개발해 온 △실시간 렌더링 영상제작 솔루션 ‘위지윅시스템’에 대한 AI 솔루션 개발, △VFX 영상제작에 대한 AI 솔루션 개발 등 AI 영상제작 솔루션 개발사업을 추진하게 된다.
엘렉시 대표 서장원 박사는 KAIST 전산학과 인공지능연구실 출신 AI 전문가이며, 엘렉시는 Philo-AD : 딥러닝 기반의 강력한 이상패턴 탐지 솔루션 (여러 종류의 데이터 스트림을 딥러닝 기반 모델을 사용하여 모니터링 후, 이상패턴 발생 시 알려주고 발생한 이상패턴에 대해 규칙 기반 방식으로 패턴을 학습하여, 즉시 반영하는 솔루션), Philo-CA : 딥러닝 기반 상황인지 서비스 실행 솔루션 등을 출시하였고, 이러한 기술을 중심으로 과학기술정보통신부, 산업통상자원부가 지원하는 개발사업에 참여하고 있다.
이번 양해각서 체결을 통해 양사는 위지윅스튜디오가 연구개발한 실시간 영상제작 솔루션과 엘렉시의 빅데이터 분석 및 딥러닝 기술을 접목하여 △로토스코핑 AI 솔루션 △디지털 휴먼 AI 솔루션을 단계별 개발함으로써 궁극적으로는 사람의 개입없이 디지털 캐릭터 어셋 데이터를 토대로 연기 요소까지 자체적으로 표현할 수 있는 디지털 휴먼 제작 솔루션을 개발할 계획이다.
위지윅스튜디오 관계자는 “AI 디지털 휴먼 영상제작 솔루션 개발이 기존 VFX 제작 공정에 소요되는 많은 예산과 제작 시간을 대폭 절감할 수 있을 뿐 아니라 쉽고 빠르게 제작되는 디지털 캐릭터를 통해 5G 콘텐츠를 쉽고 빠르게 생산하여 다양한 콘텐츠 플랫폼에 대한 솔루션으로 작용할 것이며 영상제작 산업에 새로운 패러다임을 제시하는 만큼 본 개발과정에 대해 단계별 주기적인 공개를 할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
Ellexi and WYSIWYG studios signed MOU concerning development of AI video production solution
On January 10, Ellexi and WYSIWYG Studios announced a MOU concerning development of AI video production solution. WYSIWYG has been attracting much attention in the content market after the KOSDAQ IPO based on Visual Effects ㆍ VFX technology and Ellexi is leading AI and embedded solution provider.
Pursuant to this MOU, both parties will carry out number of AI video production solution projects including, 1) AI solution development for ‘WYSIWYG System’, the real-time rendering production solution, 2) VFX video production solution and more which have been led by Dr. Woo Chang-heon (CTO, Ph.D in physics KAIST) and Kim Hyung-seok (Researcher, Ph.D in CG/VR KAIST) since the early stage of the company.
Dr. Jangwon Suh, the CEO of ellexi (Ph.D Computer Science KAIST), is an AI specialist from KAIST's Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. Ellexi has released several AI solutions including Philo-AD: Deep-learning based Anomaly Detection Solution and Philo-CA: Service execution based on Context Awareness. With these AI-based technologies, Ellexi has participated in the development projects supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Information and Communication and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
By combining WYSIWYG’S real-time image production solution and Ellexi’s Big data analysis & Deep-learning AI technology, both companies agreed to develop; △Roto Scoping AI solution, △Digital Human AI Solution that eventually enables Digital Human creation for image production, acting and perform based on character asset data without human intervention.
"The development of AI digital human image production solution not only greatly reduces the budget and production time required for the existing VFX production process, but also easily and quickly produces 5G content through easily creatable digital characters which will serve as a solution for various types of contents platform.
